The first show that we saw this year was The Foreigner! This show was absolutely fantastic! We were rolling in our seats the entire time. The premise is basically this British guy who's wife is in the hospital and his American friend decided that he needed to come visit to get away from his life. He is an extremely awkward human being and upon being introduced as a foreigner, everyone assumes that he doesn't speak English and treats him as such. Situational comedy is definitely the name of the game for this show! Absolutely hilarious! We loved it!
Les Mis is definitely a classic! We both love the show so much and seeing it on a small stage was a very different experience! It was pretty good, but I actually love seeing this show on a bigger stage. The talent was really pretty good! There were a couple director choices we didn't love, but my favorite part of this production was the way Jean Val Jean, while paying off the Thenardiers, also gave Eponine part of the spoils on the side! Loved that choice!
This was a great show, but I did come away from it feeling slightly uncomfortable...because the creepy character...was extremely creepy! Was the show hilarious? Absolutely! I would love to see it again...with not that guy...cuz he was creepy!
Mary Poppins! Probably....our least favorite show this year....It's just not what the movie is. I like some of the songs that were added, but to not end with "Let's Go Fly a Kite," is just wrong. The dancing and acting was absolutely fantastic! ABSOLUTELY amazing and the gal that played Mary Poppins was fabulous! I just didn't love the adaptations to the story. Hale did a great job with what they were given, but Mary Poppins the musical is just not my favorite. We actually watched the movie after and it's just so classic.
She Loves Me was by far our favorite show that we saw at Hale so far this year. This is a show was absolutely fantastic! What a gem of a show that isn't performed very often! The music is catchy, the message is fun and the characters are all very relatable. The choreography was very cartoon like which made it very fun to watch. The energy was incredible in this show! It made a great impression on us and it made us really excited to see Kacee in the Weber State production! :)
We're excited to see Catch Me if You Can in two weeks! It will wrap up our year at Hale and we decided not to purchase season tickets because the season line up was not as appealing and features a bunch of unfamiliar shows that we aren't interested in seeing. We'll do some other fun things this next year! :)
